Wellington, FL Says Yes to Medical Marijuana Dispensaries

Wellington's Village counsel passed measures that will allow medical marijuana dispensaries to open for business. The city has been back and forth on this issue for the past several months, opposition explains that it's not a lack of compassion for patients that need marijuana, but simply that Wellington doesn't need the dispensaries within its city.

However, the council did, in fact, pass an access to dispensaries ordinance by a 3-2 vote tonight, Monday, Jan 8th, 2018.

Wellington resident may soon have a medical marijuana storefront steps from their front door. Currently, Florida has licensed 13 dispensaries to conduct business through 25 satellite locations each. Making Wellington prime Real Estate for their businesses.

The ordinance that passed tonight reads as follows:

• Dispensaries and pharmacies need to be a minimum of 10,000 square feet in size.

• They would not be allowed within 1,000 feet of a primary or secondary school.

• One pharmacy or dispensary would be allowed per shopping center, with an exception for pharmacies in grocery stores
